Tip First check whether you are still covered by your parents’ policy. Otherwise, TCS, Smile or Helvetia offer affordable entry-level rates from around CHF 7/month.
Tip Thrift stores, Vinted and second-hand shops are worth their weight in gold while studying. Quality over quantity pays off in the long run.
🚌 Transport, tech & communication
Top deal From the second year onwards, it costs only CHF 100/year. If you commute regularly, the card pays for itself after just a few trips.
Tip An affordable second-hand bike from a thrift store or Ricardo lasts for many years and saves transport costs in the long term – plus it keeps you fit.
Tip Expensive premium plans are rarely necessary while studying. With Yallo or M-Budget Mobile, you pay from CHF 10–15/month for a fully functional data plan.
Tip Refurbished devices from Digitec, Toppreise or Ricardo are often available for half the price. Don’t forget Apple and Microsoft student discounts!
